Carnaval Coders won the WAES Hackathon
This past Friday and Saturday (February 10 + 11), WAES held it's yearly hackathon. This time, it was dedicated to Artificial Intelligence. Three teams participated in the competition and came up with innovative solutions to everyday problems. In the end, Carnaval Coders emerged as the winner!
Carnaval Coders came up with a new way to keep track of your health: Meal Mate. Meal Mate is an app that helps you eat right. Their idea was to make keeping track of nutrition easier by taking a picture of your food. They also implemented gamification as a way to make it more fun and engaging.
With Meal Mate, Carnaval Coders focuses on improving the public health, because unhealthy eating manners cause 45% of all heart diseases. Also, they want to reduce food waste, by helping users plan their meals more effectively. Lastly, by easy to follow guidance and support, Meal Mate can help people sustain a more healthy lifestyle.
Carnaval Coders won € 300,- per person to spend on their Learning & Development budget.
Congratulations to Carnaval Coders on their win! We’re excited to see what ideas come from WAES’ next hackathon.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the WAES hackathon this weekend. You all are amazing for making the world a better place one idea at a time. Keep up the great work, coders 🤩👏🎉
