How Yanet turned preparation into impact at PON

At PON, WAES consultant Yanet felt the challenge had faded. The work had become familiar, and while steady, it left little room to explore something new, especially in cloud technologies, which she was eager to dive into.

But things were shifting. There were early talks of a large-scale refactoring and a potential Azure migration. That was the spark Yanet needed.

With support from the WAES Learning & Development Program, she began studying for the Azure Developer Associate Certification, spending her own time on hands-on practice to ensure that the knowledge could be used in real-life scenarios, not just for passing an exam.

That preparation paid off. Just after Yanet got certified, the Azure migration was officially announced. She immediately stepped in to support both the refactoring process and the cloud infrastructure team, helping guide the transition to Azure.

Yanet played a key role in introducing Azure Cloud Storage to improve accessibility and scalability, and spotting areas where Azure Functions could simplify and decouple complex processes, resulting in cleaner, more efficient architecture.

“It was so motivating to see that everything I had just learned could be applied directly,” Yanet says. “Because I had prepared, I was ready when the opportunity came, and that meant I could really add value to the team and the project.”
